I'm proud to be a Trustee of Ben's Heroes Trust. Parents of brave children diagnosed with cancer have enough to worry about without having to be concerned about money.
I know we'll never take away their pain but I hope we'll help to relieve some of the financial pressure, enabling them to access treatments that may make their dreams come true, all in memory of Ben.
The moment when the consultant took us into a room and told us there was nothing more the NHS could do for Ben, was the loneliest and most desperate moment of my life.
The memory of that moment and ultimately Ben's loss has given Kate and I the determination and focus to start this charity. Our vision is that no-one will have to face that situation alone, ever again.

I never expected to hear the words "your child has cancer". It just doesn't happen, does it? Except it did to me and continues to happen to parents across the UK on a daily basis.
I want to ensure those families have somewhere to turn when the worst turns into the unimaginable and as a parent have to potentially find and fund the next step to try to save their child's life.
Having seen, during Ben’s illness, the courage and strength that Ben, Kate and Simon drew from the support of others, I was eager to be involved with a charity that would help other families of children with cancer to feel that they also have somewhere to turn.
It's a privilege to be part of the committed team at BHT and to help those families at a time when they need it most.
