Emily is a happy 3 year old who loves art & crafts, animals, CBeebies and Peppa Pig.
Emily was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2017 and underwent surgery 3 days later. The surgeons at Birmingham Children's Hospital got 95% of the tumour but the operation caused many problems resulting in an intensive care stay of 30 days, needing a trachesomony and losing all motor skills.
Emily spent 142 days in hospital and underwent a lot of rehabilitation. She has disabilities due to the tumour and is tube fed due to an unsafe swallow.
Emily began chemotherapy in April 2017. In February 2018 during a national meeting Emily's MRI was discussed and a surgeon from Alder Hey questioned if further surgery was an option.
Her parents decided to go ahead and surgery was a success. This meant Emily qualified for 30 Proton Beam sessions in Jacksonville, Florida and she and her family flew in June 2018 to start the treatment.
